January 2024 Silky Static Course
Throughout this short course, we’ll learn how to use push and pull factors, along with learning how to lean away from the pole rather than cling on in order to create silky smooth transitions between tricks.
By the end of the course, you should have a better understanding of how to slow down and find opportunities to create shapes and transitions as well as have an understanding of how static rotations work.
In these classes, we will be learning:
4-5 trick combinations
How to use energy more efficiently
How to create static rotations.
Build strength with the correct form to aid you in your pole journey
Silky smooth inverts and their variations.
-
Session 1
We focused on keeping the flowing sequence low to the floor and figuring out ways to maneuver around the pole when we were close to the floor.
We did some introductions to static rotations (SR) from standing and seated.
Introduced a sticky butt handstand and how to exit through to the floor and to rehook in to genie
We put it all together into a flowing sequence of: Outside leg hang - Jamilla - Genie - Handstand - genie - SR pull up - seat - dismount.
-
Session 2
We focused on creating an ‘energetic circuit’ of pulling and pushing the pole with the limbs and creating in puffed chest with strong arms so we can start the journey to creating spaces whilst we move up the pole.
We did some static rotations (SR) from standing spins. we then moved to genie work and brass monkey lowering. We then circled back the knee hook waves. did some aerlia invert work and alternatives to this. we then put the combo together.

Session 3
We focused on creating an ‘energetic circuit’ of pulling and pushing the pole with the limbs and creating in puffed chest with strong arms so we can start the journey to creating spaces whilst we move up the pole.
We broke down two tricky transitions from the floor, our Brass Monkey and Hello Boys variation before we translated this onto the pole.
Combo: Brass-monkey - Genie- Seat-Hello straddle - Outside leg hang - Handstand.
